I tried to install the pipe on a new harman xxv by myself. What a pain! I think I have it all hooked up but I can't seem to get the cheap dryer vent CAI to hook up. Is there any better material to use that has a lot more flex to it? The one that came with the system will not work for me. Anyone have any suggestions?

I don't have a xxv but a Harman P38 with Selkirk DT pipe. The tubing that came with the kit, that connected the stove to the outside air adapter worked for me. If you you can post a pic of what you mean that would help..

I can when I get home from work today. It just is not flexible enough for me to connect both ends of it

Maybe auto parts store has something more flexible or maybe come off the outside air adapter on pipe with a short type of elbow..

What diameter tubing would I need for the oak?

Please check the link to be sure your stove is the one covered by this manual.

From the manual:

To install outside air use 2 3/8" I.D. non-combustible ex pipe. There is a break-away hole on the rear panel of the stove which must be removed to connect the ex pipe. The maximum length run of this pipe is 15 feet. If a longer run is needed the size must be increased to 3". Inlet cover part number 1-10-08542 should be used to keep birds, rodents, etc.out of the pipe unless the Harman® wall passthrough is being used.

One thing I just read was that the oak is supposed to be below the pipe. How does that work with the selkirk dt? The oak is all around the pipe. Does it suck in exhaust?

The exhaust should be forced enough away from pipe so as not to be sucked into OA intake. The cone end cap is supposed to help speed up exhaust..

got it up and running will post some pics later today. that thing really heats! Stinks pretty good with the first burn. How long till that goes away?

Great you got it up and running.
