Setting up Quad Castile with Honeywell wifi thermostat

Hi to all, I've had my Quad Castile for over 5 years in my vacation house in Upstate NY. I'm currently using a Honeywell programmable thermostat, It's connected with the two wire set-up and it's powered by the two AA back-up batteries. I think I've only had to change the batteries one time in all these years. Now I want to get a Honeywell model th6320wifi thermostat. It doesn't have battery back-up and the one that does says that the battery is only for back-up, not to power it. I'm thinking that I can get a 110-24 volt transformer from Sears, plug it in my basement and run a wire to power the thermostat.

What do you think? Will this work?

You will need a 24v AC HVAC type transformer and a SPST 110v relay to use that STAT.

I use the house all winter and I only heat the kitchen and bathrooms when I'm not there. It's pretty cold in the house when I get there. I've wanted to get something like this since I replaced my woodstove with the pellet stove. There used to be a telephone thermostat company but they wouldn't accept a return if their thermostat didn't do the job with the pellet stove. Now this Honeywell is right from Home Depot. I can take it right back if there's a problem. I doesn't look like there will be any problem at all. I'll be able to turn up the heat before I leave main house and it will be warming up when I get there.

I figured that I needed a transformer. What does the SPST relay do?

The thermostat you are looking at is a 24 volt thermostat. Your stove more than likely needs a millivolt or 12 Volt thermostat.
The relay isolates the thermostat voltage from the stove.
As a side note I Suspect that the Thermostat you are looking at is what I would consider a Comfort Stat.
What happens is that it turns On and Off 5 times Per Hour and calculates how long it should run during each cycle, Not the best way to use a Pellet Stove in my opinion. I maybe mistaken as I'm not familiar with the Quad Castile but I suspect that most Pellet Stoves require a millivolt compatible thermostat or the transformer/relay mentioned above to work correctly.

I probably should have been using the relay with the thermostat I have now. It cycles on and off when it is at the temperature set. The fan will keep running but the fire pot will fill, burn and go out, the wait a while, the burn again. I never thought it was a problem. The only problem I've had with the stove is when I used premium pellets, I got too much ash and clinkers. I was the only one who complained to the dealer. When I use standard pellets, there's no problem,

How will the relay affect the way my stove runs?

Hi guys, I'm back again. I got busy with other things over the summer but now it's time to get this going. I picked up the Honeywell model RTH6580WE and I got the combination transformer/relay that Arti listed. Right now I have a Honeywell 7 day programmable thermostat wired to pellet stove with the red wire to the R and the white to the O/B. It get's power from the AA battery.

So I have tow wires coming from the pellet stove; red and white and I have the transformer/relay with red, black, and brown wires. The new wifi thermostat has connections: K, L, aux/e, G, O/B, C, Y, and R and Rc linked. The new thermostat instructions say that the battery will not power it.

Does anyone know how I should wire this up?
