She traded in my pellet chest

So my wife has a hard time luging pellet bags as they are at 1/3 her weight so I made her a pellet chest to hold the pellets when I am not home and the stove needs a feeding. so I made us a pellet chest that holds 6 bags of
pellets and topped it off on Sundays and she just scoops it in
[Hearth.com] She traded in my pellet chest
Now she traded this in for a smaller can that holds 2.25 bags and made the chest her coffee table.
Something about going better with the theme.

I have something similar to your chest. It was a blanket chest that is converted into a pellet chest. I haven't filled it yet, but assume it will hold 6 bags too. You know the more trips "YOU" are going to make to fill the new bucket will give you more exercise.
 
That's a nice chest your wife has there boo-boo (sorry, I couldn't resist).(and WTH has happened where no one has made such a comment yet - you make the girl do it - LOL)

Seriously, that is a nice chest and will make an awesome coffee table.

So . . . where is it written that pellets may not be stored in a coffee table?

That is a damn fine chest! well done!

I can make just about anything out of metal...........Wood, i fail so hard at working with it, it sad :(
 
my wife cant handle the 40 lb bags either. when I knew i was going to have elbow surgery i got 2 huge rubbermaid totes, opened the bags up and put them in, filled to the top. an hour before my surgery. got her an ice scooper. It worked well. Not as nice and what you built but it got the job done and there was no chance of the totes being kidnapped for matching furniture.

luckily they lasted long enough that i was able to fill the hopper again with my good arm and not cause too much movement in the other.
 
Good solution! My wife can't drag the bags in as well. Lucky I was home for the entire season, or we would have gone propane :)
 
of course i couldnt have broken my elbow in the middle of the summer. that would have been too easy. At least i got out of having to commute to work in the snow for an entire winter. was some get out of jail free card.
 
It cost me only 20 bucks for the wood. most of it is1x3x8 strapping I had the stain from another project and 16 for the hard wear
she paid 30 for the can and I was wrong it holds only 1.5 bags so it is a daily trip from the basement to the stove on cold days

Oh well she is happy, the stove gets filled and I get dinner:)

Pshaw! My wife can hold a pellet bag in one one hand, while cooking dinner with the other. Not to be messed with.

I do everything from load the pellets in my car, unload and haul into basement, stack, then carry up the stairs and load into stove. Can carry a bag in each hand. Don't cook dinner at the same time though. I need a wife like yours - the husband thing didn't work out so well - LOL

As long as you can stand up still while your doing your thing, your fine ..

Yeah, I'm taller, but lighter - and only a couple years younger than you. Have to do everything, including demolition work on my house, myself. Even when married I stacked all the wood in the wood shed (he cut/split it), then hauled it to the house and filled the wood rack on the deck, filled the wood rack inside, and maintained the fire/stove. Some people have other abilities, my ability is a strong back.

You can still use it for pellets while its a coffee table, maybe cut a scope size extra opening in the top.
 
This got me thinking, my wife has massive troubles (so she says) moving a pellet bag anywhere. Yet, I constantly see her picking up the dog, and smooshing and kissing that poor little guy. Well, i weighed him. 35.8 lbs!

What are the odds that those extra 4.2 lbs is the dealbreaker here?
 
bogieb, sounds not far off my routine. Keeping the Hubby though ... 31 years on. He has a sense of humour when he comes home to the old plaster & lathe walls ripped out ... and helped me put everything back together.:)

Kept the hubby for 28 years (plus lived together for 5 years before that). Guess he decided he needed a newer model when I got old. Didn't even have the decency to tell me, or act like there was an issue until he found a replacement.

Picking up my 60 pound dog was not as difficult as picking up a bag of pellets. The weight of pellets shifts willy-nilly, while the dog usually actively "helped" and his weight wouldn't shift around. Now, if it is a squirming 36 pound dog - that is totally different.
 
Does she tell you to put the seat down too ??

Nice chest boo boo ... wife obviously thought so too as she's keeping it. Since the can only holds a couple of bags, she's just making sure you're not gone too long;lol
