I'm actually psyched about this long shoulder season that we are in. Gives us the chance to clean up the vast piles of marginal wood, uglies, and shorts that we have around.

In our poorly insulated stone house, the stove is at its best during these periods. Can't quite keep up when it's bone chillingly cold out. Now we have the ambiance and dehumidification, and the temperature is just right inside.

I like shoulder season since in the Fall it's a nice way to ease into the burning season . . . and in the Spring it's just nice to be able to kind of peter off with the burning and not be constantly feeding the stove.
