With temps projected to be in the mid to upper 40's and even low 50's for the next 2 weeks, I'm shutting down for the season. I got my propane filled for 88 cents/gallon. Its going to be nice to have what looks to be an early spring for a change, I've got TON's of outdoor work to do anyway. Bring on the HEAT... LOL have a great summer dudes !

We are forecasted 50's-60's for the next week and a half so I'm thinking I'm right there with you. I have a ton of replumbing and setup for next year to do.

.88 cents a gallon is awesome. Where are you located?
Best price I got was 1.58 and that's only because they screwed up.
I called to check prices and they told me it 2.88 a gallon. I said no thanks mam I have wood. Then I came home and found a slip saying they filled my tanks. I called and told the to come take it back. Then they gave it to me to 1.58. Pretty sure it should have been that price but they jacked it up to take advantage of people with no other heat source.

I am also shut down for the season. Going to be cleaning my chimney sometime this week. And the real work is starting for next winter cut/chip/split/stack. Never ever ending.

I am sure that I wont be burning 24 hours a day from now on. Its likely though that I will throw a few logs on after work to bump the house temp up a bit. But with the daytime highs that is forecast, I doubt I will need to burn during the day. It does look like its supposed to cool off this coming weekend though.

I'm in central Upper Michigan. Our updated forecast is now looking even warmer than it was last week. Upper 40's and low 50's for at least the next 10 days. I'm not going to clean out the boiler just yet. If we do get a major cold blast maybe I'll start it back up for a few days, but then again, 88 cent a gallon propane has a tendency to make me a bit lazy ! LOL

I'm getting all my wood for the 2017 and 2018 C/S/S right now. Should be done by the end of the month.

Was having similar thoughts today after looking at the extended forecast. Might take the garn offline a little earlier this year and take advantage of the propane.
Hate to do it as I would only have to fire once every 24 hours with temps. In the 40s and 50s, but Need to concentrate on the next few years wood stash before the yard gets soggy...

Burned around the clock yesterday but let it die this morning. Turned on the electric heaters and hope I am done burning for season.

I can't believe how chilly 71 degrees feels in the house right now. Wood heat spoiled for sure.

I'll still be burning about another month for heat but can hopefully cut back to firing every two or three days. Time to burn up my soft wood scrape pile. It's very muddy here with more rain in the forecast so doesn't look like i'll be able to get in the woods to do any cutting soon.

I always like the spring burns. My wife will take a wheeled trash barrel and gather sticks all over the edge of the lawn.

Two benefits to that one. cleans up the yard.. and provides DHW for us all spring.

Certainly hope I have shut it down for the season. If so with the warm Fall and early looking Spring it would be by far the shortest burning season I have ever had.

88 cents a gal? Here it is $4.00 a gal.. I wouldn't even burn wood if I could get propane at your price.

Too early to shut down up by the Big Lake they call Gichi Goomie. Might see a half foot of snow if one of the models is right...:

$4/gallon !!? Yikes! I've never understood why gasoline, and propane, are so expensive in Canada when you produce so much oil and natgas. You would think it should be the other way around?

Pat , I wish I lived in central U.P. I hear there are tons of deer up there with trophy bucks everywhere, and shed antlers litter the forest floor. As for me , I am going to quit burning early this year. I started my last row on Feb. 15 and have a few days left before it is done. This is 2.75 face cords , or almost a full cord. An unbelievable winter here. If it was always this nice, I dont think I would burn wood. I went through about 10 face cords this year and may go through one more or so . Easy winter on my wood pile and have more saved for next year.
