My wife sincerely believes I've lost my mind, "and she's a shrink". Every time I walk in the stove room, or living room as she calls it, I see the Ashford sitting there mocking me begging to be fed. 72 degrees at 10 pm not going to be any time soon. Is there a cure for my madness???

The wife is always right, yer nuts. Welcome to the club.

I hear ya, dude. I hear ya.

I too develop wood burning withdrawal symptoms this time of year. A fire pit does help get me through.

BBQ with wood chunks., think if your starting chimney as a small stove.

Outside Fireplace!

What else would you put on a Patio?

A lawn chair in front of the firewood stacks and sit amongst your REAL friends. Jeesh - shrinks.::-)

Is the Ashford New? If so you have permission to burn in the name of "breaking it in". If not, you'll just have to wait like the rest of us.

Like the others I normally burn outside to keep the pyromania satisfied but this year it is too dangerous so we bbq.

What's that saying? Absence makes the heart grow fonder. You'll need lots of pent up burning desire to get you from fall to spring. This summer break increases that desire. Use the time to verify the fuel supply is adequate.

I've accepted that I'm obsessed with wood burning. I caught myself thinking--'Well it's only 70, maybe a small fire." I stopped myself. Instead, I'm going to be taking my 7 year old out to teach her how to use a moisture meter in a few minutes. As far as obsessions go, I'm OK with this one. It gets me out into the woods, cutting, splitting, and stacking is good exercise, and I get to play with big boy toys. It also puts me in a better position during the Zombie Apocalypse ;-) This is my professional opinion.

No, I think that's considered normal here on the forums. I'm always checking the stacks and tinkering with the moisture meter. It keeps my mind off actually starting a fire. We do have a fire in the pit at least once a weekend so that helps too! Nothing like sitting by the stove to unwind in the evenings. 3 1/2 months to go. First fire was lit Halloween last year to warm the kids up after trick or treating.

I youtube wood burning stoves, all kinds of makes and sizes...it gets me through

alcohol, fire pit, trash wood, bug spray. Works for me until Sept.

Well it's good to know I'm not alone. I've tried everything twice. We have 17 cords stacked all over the property the wife said any more and she's going to start selling while I'm at work. The Ashford is a year old so no break in. Having a bonfire tonight so hopefully that will get me through

17 cords huh? You don't need that much. Send 8 cords my way. Your wife happy, me happy.

It takes a lot of beer to get me through the summer while dealing with this need for fire in the stove. However, it also takes a lot of beer to get me through the winter watching the fire in the stove. Hmm ;em

Getting through the "slow" season for wood is easy. I just spend more time on the bike forums. When it starts getting too cold to ride the wood forums are more fun.
