Is 500degree silicone high enough for sealing the surround to my insert, especially the top piece to the top of the insert? Thanks.

What insert? Why are you using silicone to attach the surround panel?

I've got a Buckstove insert, and the surround bolts to the top and sides. Supposed to overlap the masonry, but I chose to do an inside fit. Manual says to apply a thin bead of silicone where the surround meets the stove. The previous owner had done this as well. The Buckstove website sells this, but doesn't give a degree limit in the description.

Thanks- I already used it, but I just wanted some reassurance. I will have to take a pic and post it now that installation is complete. I really think the inside fit looks so much more refined and "natural", like it was made that way. So many insert installations look out of place. All I did was use 1/4' plate steel and mortar them to the sides to square off the fireplace opening with the lintel. The surround panel is set back about an inch from the edge.
