Union Employees at a Simpson Manufacturing Plant Go on Strike Amid Contract Renewal Talks

PLEASANTON, Calif. (AP) -- Simpson Manufacturing Co., which makes connectors and venting systems, said Wednesday that union employees at its Stockton, Calif., manufacturing facility have gone on strike.

The company said it doesn't expect the suspension in work to materially affect its sales or profits.

Simpson Manufacturing said last week it was negotiating a labor contract renewal at the facility and that there was a chance work could be suspended briefly at the plant.

A company spokesman was not immediately available to comment on the nature or size of what it called a "work stoppage."

It must be a Strong-Tie construction connector plant. They make their chimney stuff in Vacaville, California and Vicksburg, Mississippi.

Simpson ain't been having a good time lately.
