Question:

Own a VC resolute. Been using it since December with no problems. The past few days, when we open the doors we are getting an unusual amount of smoke puffing out the doors. Usually, if we keep one door closed, the smoke will circulate through the stove with no puffing out. Thanks for any help.

Answer:

Since you mentioned that your stove has two doors, it is an older Resolute...not the new Acclaim. There are many possible reasons for an increase in smoke rolling out the front doors. The most obvious are:

1. Open the loading damper and air inlet at least 30 seconds before opening the doors.
2. Weather conditions....warmer and humid weather can result in less draft, therefore more smoke.
3. partial blockage of stovepipe or chimney cap - Check these and clean if needed.
