Snake id...

Found this guy in my stack today....about 3 feet long. Any idea?

A garden snake?? Not sure. At least it's not rattling

Based on a few searches, I think it may be a northern water snake. Non venomous .....

That said, it also looks like this Burmese Python

Eastern Milk or Corn snake. Harmless and doing way more good than harm for you

Eastern Milk snake for sure we get lots of them in our stacks. They do a great job of keeping the mice in check and the bugs at bay.

Across the street from me there is a stream and some woods. I brought him there. The wife did not want him in the yard with the boys. I think she was fearful they would kill it.

Mostly sure it's not a Northern Water Snake. I have a den each year and the markings are Hershey's Kisses. They resemble Cotton Mouths (especially when you're panicked!). Yours is a beauty.

Definitely a corn. Lifelong snake geek here.. Very close to a milk in color, but your pic also nicely shows the "bread loaf" cross section of the rat snake genus that corns are in. Milks and other kingsnakes have a circular cross section. Won't bore ya further with Latin junk...

That is a milk snake.

I have noticed more very young snakes than usual in my stacks. We have an agreement, don't bite me and you can stay rent free!

I emailed a biologist at the State DEM. He confirmed that its Eastern Milk Snake. Apparently not seen very often during the day time.

not a big snake fan, but I wouldn't hurt one or kill one, I respect the job they do, I just wish they had to wear florescent orange vests when I'm near the wood piles.

Beautiful snake! I'd say it's a corn, too. Let 'em go back in the pile... they're excellent mousers!
