What can you folks tell me about my new Homelite Super XL? (58.2 cc)
It has 3/8 " chain and a 20" bar which looks in good repair.

How long of a bar is reasonable?
Is full chisel chain still available?
Thanks!

Buckin' Billy might be able to answer some of your questions (at 9+ minute mark he fires up the chainsaw).

Wonderful old chainsaw that will give you years and years of use. Not sure if you have the Super XL 12 or the Super XL Automatic, but either way with manual oiler/manual oiler override, I wouldn't hesitate running a 24" bar and full chisel chain. Just make sure to keep the chain sharp, take your time in the big wood, and give it an extra few pumps of oil.

Good luck and congratulations on purchasing an old school American made chainsaw.

Here's a link to an old commercial for these saws.... Homelite Super XL12 Commercial
