The old Whit 2 T will last forever. These things are one tough stove.
Running our stoves on the shells required a bit of experimenting, so to keep from overheating, we only run them on #1 setting.
The shells are small pieces, and burn fairly quick.
This is sort of like stoking with kindling ya know.
So we just turn on a second stove when one is not enough.
Having a Ranch style home makes it tougher to heat anyway, being so spread out.
As I mentioned previously, yesterday here in the computer room it was 80 F and that was with all the stoves off.
Rain tonight/tomorrow, and then a bit more come next week some time.
I can't imagine having the bitter cold and huge snows this late.
Maybe it's global cooling or ????
Don
Glad to see your staying busy.
I have been watching used stoves on craigs list here, and the prices went off into the ozones.
Used stuff were available cheap, but not any more.
When I bought our Whits, they cost me $200 each, and the Prodigy came with the hearth pad too
There was an older Advantage for sale week or so ago on craigs, says "does not work, needs parts, some rust, few dents" This think looked like 10 miles of bad road, and maybe like it had been drug behind the truck. One glass pane was broken as well.
The clown was asking $1000
UHHHHHGH, NOT EVEN.
I would not have offered him more than $20 as this was real POS
I am always looking for another Whit or two as spares.
Most people around here bought them as a novelty for ambiance, and not serious heating appliances.
My daughter and her hubby are planning on a new house here in a couple years, and she asked me the other day "How many pellet stoves do we need" to heat it ????
I responded, "one in every corner" haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Can't have too many ya know.
We are in the Shoulder season now, and our little whit really shines during this time of year.
Just enough heat to keep the shack warm but not too much.
We will be doing it this way until summer probably.
Can't rule out having to fire the 2T again, but if we do, it will be a short run.
Ahhhh yess, SPRING
