Seem to be getting a squeal from the auger motor area on my Hartman XXV Tried spraying with some Teflon spray but not doing anything. This is just happening after twelve years,and has not been an ongoing problem. It seems to happen at a certain spot as I watch it go around Any one have any ideas. Thanks.

You should try to isolate the noise to one of the motors, distribution, combustion, or auger if you can. Does the noise occur all the time or just when the distribution fan runs or auger feeds.

It might just be carbon buildup around the point where the auger meets the back of the burn pot assembly. clean it up with a wire brush and see if the squeal goes away.

+1 on noting the frequency of when the squeal occurs.

It definitely comes when the auger turns,but at a certain point. It is not continuous. It happened right after I cleaned it.

This only happens when auger turns at a certain point. Not continually I tried a video but it says the file is to large.

I would definitely go at that auger/burn pot junction then. You may have knocked a bit of carbon into a friction point.

I would pull the auger, clean it and make sure it is spinning freely. Also clean the auger feed tube. I used a wire wheel and an old brake cylinder hone attached to a drill.

I did this last summer for the first time after 13 years. That cured all my squealing.

12 years and no drive maintenance at all... Think I'd be greasing the reduction gearbox and lubricating the motor bearing while removing any carbon from the transfer tube. You are on borrowed time on the drive, plain and simple.

Lubricated everything I could. Always have but still didn’t help.

I had a squeal when new it was the auger motor. Over the years I've gotten "the Harman auger squeal". Hot burns periodically & cleaning the best I could with wire brush the tube and auger end. I use this when cleaning sometimes also just before a fire ;

Found my squeak! At last. I was looking at the stove earlier today,and decided to take another look at the fines box area. Low and behold I took a pick and slid it under the little metal door that moves up and down. I also went above another black metal plate. I then took a thin nozzle on my vac and sucked out everything I could. Started stove and squeak is gone. . Thanks to all that responded !!

Had a squel coming from my exhaust motor. Harman P61A. Took back panel off. Was deff the exhaust motor. At the very end of the motor u can see the shaft turning flush in the housing. I hit that with a shot of penetrating oil. Took the noise out right away.. prob should not have been that easy as i did not think the end of the exhaust shaft would be rubbing but guess it was .that was couple weeks ago.

Teflon spray.

Loose the Teflon spray it has NO lubricating value when it comes to bearings at all. Use LIGHT MACHINE OIL. Might work for an auger tube or a squeaky car window but for bearing's it's worthless.
