St Croix Prescott Igniter

I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to replace the igniter in my St Croix Prescott Pellet Stove?
Any and all assistance would be greatly appreciated.

From looking at P. 10 of your operations manual, it looks like you have to remove the panel just under the front door.

Thanks. When I get home in the morning I shall look to see if there is an access there..The igniter went out a week ago and when it did the fuse on the control board went. I replaced the fuse but the igniter appears to be the culprit of the blown fuse as it does not work..

Did you buy the ignitor already? Grainger has a good supply of them....much cheaper than manufacturer/dealer. Just bring it in and match-up the dia., length, and wattage. Most of them have the info stamped on them....just need to clean it off w/ fine sandpaper or scotch pad.

I don't think Grainger will have a St Croix ignitor... had to buy mine from my dealer.

I was disappointed that I had to buy an $80.00 ignitor... but the first one was 10 or 11 years old so it lasted a long time.

I have gone through 2 of the grainger igniters in 1 year. One last season that quit in Feb. and the new one I installed for this season just quit the other day. Is it worth it to get another? Are these just flukes?

Don't want to jinx myself but still on original one in my 2005 prescott. Stove runs 24/7 all winter with shut downs only for cleaning - maybe thats why its lasted.

Mine is on a thermostat and we see wide temp swings of cold and warm so it shuts off often and relights durring the day. I have no idea how many times it cycles cause I'm not home but it wouldnt surprise me if it did 10-12 times in a 24 hour period. The factory one lasted much longer.

Maybe my Afton Bay is made the same as yours…if so, open the side doors. You will see two hex head screws on each side holding the front cover on (the one just under the door). Once the cover is off, you have access to the ignitor and wiring. Also, while you're there, lube the front bushing for the VersaGrate and vacuum the area.

When my ignitor goes, I will try a Grainger unit. They also sell collars that can be used to mount the ignitor. I just saw the same collars in the hardware store the other day - they're under $1.

No yours is not quite like mine. Its more of a pain to get to the igniter but not too bad. I used my factory collar, just drilled out the igniter and use a small thin wedge of steel to set it.
