I've got an EKO 25. Didn't know if I should stack the tanks or place them in parallel. They will have to be placed outside to place both together. Othewise I could put one in my small basement and one outside. Obviously I'll have to build a box around them and insulate. Tell me my best aproach.

The 500 gallon tank (if it is a propane tank) would weigh about 1100 pounds. Kinda bulking to be moving around.
I would think you would plumb the two tanks in series. Have you considered just starting with the 500 gallon tank?

If I were you I'd do whatever it took to get all of your storage indoors. Insulating a tank to be outside is likely to be pricey.

I've got a small house and a small hand dug basement. I probably could fit a 500 gallon tank in the basement. It might be ten foot long and around 6.5 ft high.
Placing storage in the basement would probably limit my to 500 gal total. Is having 500 gallon storage in the basemet better than 800-1000 gallon outside.

I was about to go for the single 500 inside untill I measured the opening of my cellar door. It's 29 inches, 32 if I remove the wooden frame for the door. I don't think there is a 500 gallon tank that can fit through that. Does anyone know the dmension of a 325 gallon tank. Maybe I can place two 325's in there. I've got two inches short of seven foot for hight and a 12X15 room.
I don't think there are standards for tank dimensions. I saw a bunch of different tank dimensions at a propane dealer. Best bet is probably look to see what you can find that will fit. I'm thinking about 4 x 250 gallon tanks, stacked horizontally in two rows of two.
