Stacking for burning access -too close to the house?

I scrounged over 3 cord myself for this season, but I'm buying 2 cord to round out (and hopefully have some leftovers).

To make room for the new cord (red oak) i started moving some seasoned red maple under my deck. This is where I always store my wood a cord at a time during the winter.

But I got concerned because it's early and still relatively warm. Is this a bad idea? Am I inviting pests that the cold hasn't had a chance to take care of yet. As I started handling the wood I saw some creepy crawlies so that got me thinking.

I'm in CT, so I'm probably still at least a few weeks away from even morning burns.
This door feeds directly into our finished basement. Too close? Too early?

You will be fine IMO - your outside of a brick domain. I just like being done with everything I can before October 1st. So I move all my wood at the end of September - so far I have had success

I can't imagine any problems other than a mouse or two. The wood is going to be gone by spring so termites don't have a chance. If you get it up off the ground, I doubt anything will try to habitate there since moisture seems key for most insects.

Not at all. I have over 4 face cords in my attached garage. Once in a while a bug here and there shows up, but in the stove it goes.

The fact that it is dry most of the pests have left a while ago. If it was still green you would have a bigger reason for concern.

I think it is fine. I don't worry about the bugs other than I don't like bugs crawling around.

I spray the perimeter of my house as well as my stacks with "Termidor" every year. It contains fipronyl which is the same stuff in Frontline (the flea and tick packet you put on your dogs and cats every month).

We get almost no bugs in the house. If you like spiders and things though...it kills them too. Kinda feel bad that it kills almost every invertebrate in the house, but no more lady bug blooms, unlikely to get termites, no random bugs running around, no STINK BUGS either. Kills off all the ants. Takes care of roaches as well.

Our house is pest free. And one bottle lasts me like 5-6 years.

CT here as well. I stack a a foot or two off the back of my house to season my wood and then store my wood on my front porch come burning time. I have had no issues other than a mouse or two. I wouldn't worry about it.

I also sprayed around my stacks with Termidor as I did have a few carpenter ants. Wiped them out for good. Havent seen any since spring.

I'd stack as much fire wood as I could outside that door. and under the over hang, That's a sweet spot for an emergency stash.

Bugs go away. You're always going to have creepy crawlies.

Cowboy up, and deal with bugs.

I have about a half cord stacked on racks on the front porch. I'd put more out there but the wife likes to see out the window. I don't allow bugs in the house and they somehow seem to sense this...or maybe it's the insecticide.
