Heres the pics of the first half now all i need is the stove to slide under and connect! Ill update the pics when the stove is all installed. gotta paint the sheet metal in the background black as well. dont mind my ugly paneling haha. it'll be looking a lot nice when we remodel the basement in the spring. Any ideas for around the hearth? i think im going to put a slate tile completely around the hearth.

What would posses you to buy a catalytic stove and want all that extra work to operate it? :-)
Looks like your well on your way to heating with wood and staying warm. Keep us posted.

Yeah looking forward to it. ive been burning for a few years now. im replacing My Dutchwest 2479 never burn.! it was a long hard fight and it got the best of me.

Once you spend some time with your Princess you will love her. Get to know her likes and dislikes and rub her belly prior to stoking!

Good choice.

haha. yeah i plan on it my wife already to me that ill probably make love to it when it comes. she thinks im crazy cuz im so obsessed with wood and burning wood.

Looks very good! Will you be spray-painting the sheet metal in place? If you do, mask off EVERYTHING within 2 feet (or more, just to be safe) of where you spray; I've seen a lot of overspray mistakes, and those bricks on the fireplace look really clean right now.

Ha thats funny i just picked up the can of spray paint to paint it five minutes ago. The piece is removable ill be doing it in the garage. Ive been saying for three years i was going to paint it and i finally am.

Congrats eco, when is the new stove coming?

the stove is coming today. i got the day off to go and pick it up. ill post the pics when i get it all installed.

here it its!!

The ability of my new Princess to keep a fire going 24/7, and its magnificent
performance with truly dry wood, has caused me to overhaul the firewood
strategy that has served me well for 20+ years. I'm going to build a 2nd
"gazebo", a wood structure that holds a season's worth of wood in this
climate, and try to let my wood cure for 1-1/2 years instead of 6 months.

yeah the stuff im burning now is all 2 years split and dried

Good god, Blaze Kings are some beefy looking stoves.

Congrats Eco, looks great.

Looks real nice. Keep us informed on how it performs compared to your old stove.

right now i just engaged the cat for the first time. very warm out!!! which kind of sux. but cat is way in the active zone and the cat is glowing. looks like there just a little smoke coming from the chimney looks like mostly heat vapor. is this just cat maybe burning off some crap cuz its new?

also i just want to make sure. lol. im a newbie to this thing and gonna need some questions answers. really appreciate it. i lowered it slowly down to 2 and theres not really any flame in there. thats what its suppose to do correct. cat is glowing like crazy now and theres no smoke whatsoever out the stack now.

Sounds normal. Sometimes you see no flame and just a whisp of white steam out the chimney. If your thermometer is in the active zone your making heat.

its way in the active zone. no flame cat glowing and no smoke or steam from chimney. and its very warm out today.

So far This thing i can't really even believe it. its been way in the active zone and cat is still glowing red. no smoke from chimney. and i have it down to 1.5 now for the past few hours. And i can actually sit it my basement without getting cooked out of there. By now with the other stove i would have opened the door bout 4 or 5 times to just try and get it to burn off the smoke and even after that it was questionable. Then not to mention it would have probably overfired as well when i shut the damper. it was one or the other with that frekin stove. Ill keep updates. im really am in amazement. ill keep you guys posted on how it keeps going. Also my wood is really good to as well so its helping out a lot. 2 years dried wood is def a huge help.

Nice looking install. Looks very solid.
Know you will love the stove when Spring hits and you will need to keep the heat output low.
I have some wood that I am trying to save for when I get my cat. It will be almost 2 years old by the time I get mine.

Looks Great!! I noticed you got the blockout plate painted also

yeah that thing was left not painted for 3 years haha. i finally did it. i wanted a warm welcome for the king. im just making sure with you guys i get nice flames then when i go down to 1.5 i loose the flames but cat is still way active and no smoke out the stack what so ever. this is normal right?? ha. im paranoid about it.. thats how its suppose to be i guess.
