Is $175 unreasonable for this saw even in decent condition? I understand they are about 40 yrs old and about 55cc saws. It has an 18" bar on it as it is but an engine that big should be able to pull 20 or 22" bar. I would also like to give a chisel chain a go and understand that i can't get for my husky 350 with a .325 chain? Would i be able to run a chisel chain on this saw? Thanks in advance.

this one is a collectable and even more so if its a top handle sure not a work saw that I'd worry about the chain Iam running but nice sawsedanman said:

It was introduced in '68, about the same time as my 08. I haven't considered my 08 an actual user saw for many years. They have no AV whatsoever so while they're screaming saws and fun to run occasionally, they really wear you out.

Thanks for the responses. It is a very cool looking saw. I tried to link the ad from CL. It's in the hudson valley section of NY. So i wouldn't be able to run this saw too much due to reliability reasons?

I just like the whole idea of using something that is from the past and tinkering wiht it to get it going, that why i liked the old stihl.

smokinjay -- the pics look good, saw looks to be in real nice shape. I have had a couple of stihls in the past, but they have been relativley new, could this one be a saw that could be used often. Basically i am a weekend warrior as far as cutting wood, not in the business or anythng, have you got lots expieience with this saw in particular or any was of the same vintage? I guess what i am asking is how hard is it to get old stihl parts, i have some experience finding parts for old dirt bikes and the like and sometimes it isn't easy. Are chainsaw parts readily available?
