If the price point is similar, Stove Chows. Less ash and decent heat. If you like ash, then Pennington's won't disappoint you.

Stove chows are distributed by Energex.. Burned the same as Energex Hardwoods as I had both brands,
lot of ash but very good heat..[burned 2 tons during the Polar vortex year before...]
Walmart penningtons are CRAP load of ash..!!!... don;t bother with them..

I could not agree more. In my new home, I have a pretty good way of testing the heat output of pellets. Since the stove is on setting 1 all the time these days, you can really tell a good pellet from a bad one. The Penningtons from walmart would keep the house at about 74°F with the outside temp at 30°F. I had run 2 hoppers worth (6 bags) and got the same result. Dumped in some Cheat River pellets once the hopper was empty and saw a huge difference. The house was at 80°F with the outside temp at 30°F.

The Penningtons are junk.

Once again what does not work in 1 stove may burn good in another... i have tried penningtons and they burn fairly well in my stove. I have tried other brands that had great reviews and those didnt burn for crap. The only way to know for sure is ti personally try them for yourself.
