Stove Chow Pellets

Anyone else notice that the Home Depot Stove Chow pellets are A LOT worse than last year?? I understand that these are not a "quality" pellet but last year I had a lot better luck with them which is why I went with them. They are extremely ashy!! I was going to stock up during the summer with a good quality pellet but held off for the Stove Chow and now I'm regretting it.

I am using them as my shoulder pellet supply for now in my Harman Accentra with no problem . In my other stove, a Lopi Leyden yes, it is ashy and have to vacuum frquently. Decent heat output though. Going to be using my Hamer's and Energex after these 2 tons of Stove Chow run out. I have 2 tons each of those for the real cold stretch. Don't want a repeat of last when I ran out in the spring.

Yes, I'm not happy with them this year. I liked them last year and jumped at them this year to make sure I had pellets. I don't feel the heat is as good as last year either. My infra red tells me this also. Pellets sold out very quickly here in central NJ.

Last year I burned about 2.5 tons of Chows. This year I bought 3 tons of Chows. I think this years Chows are good, no complaints from me. They burn great in my Ecoteck. No more ash than last year, and heat seems fine. If anything, my scraper rod gets stuck on deposits less than it did last year.

You did a good pre-season cleaning, correct? Nothing makes a pellet seem more crappy than a dirty stove.
