Stove cleaning day

The T6 is getting ready for its 17th heating season. Nighttime temps are dropping into the 40s. I cleaned the flue and when putting it back together, I couldn't find the gasket material I ordered last year that I was going to use for the baffle gasket. Bummer. Then I remembered I have a roll of stove door window gasket. It is adhesive backed and 1/8" thick. Time to innovate. I sliced the window gasket in half lengthwise and then pieced together a gasket. This got stuck onto the underside of the baffle. We'll see how this works out.

Wow 17 years! I still remember when you installed that stove, doesn’t seem that long ago. Looks like that gasket should work out well.

Good to know your PE is on it's 17th yr. For my parlor, it's still a toss up between a PE and BK Ashford. Leaning towards the BK for their long, low-n-slow caddy burns for supplemental "take the edge off" heat.

Our stove served its first season in 2008, starting out in Tom Oyen's shop. He sold it to me in late winter, early 2009. This was the first year for the Alderlea T6 model.

We have the heat pump for low and slow heating. My main love about this stove is the low maintenance and cost of operation. So far I have spent less than $120 in 17 yrs on it. The door has had 2 gasket replacements. I did the baffle side insulation pieces a couple of years ago. I'll be replacing the glass gasket this fall. It's still the original.
