Edit: I removed the original adapter. The new adapter (bottom of photo) kind of fits, but the other way around than shown. At the collar, it is fairly loose - but the inside part does fit inside the collar (up to the bolts where the stove collar is attached) and it is only the outside that is loose (1/4" on two sides, approx). I'm going to light a small fire and see if smoke escapes...

Hello, I had a chimney installer here who could not complete the job on the inside flue as he didn't have the parts needed. He told me the part to order and I just received it. In the photo: the top adapter is what I had, it fit nicely over top of the stove collar. He said to remove that, and put the crimp end down of the new adapter (6" Diameter Double Wall Stove Pipe Adapter) inside the collar. The crimp side down does not fit into the collar, very close though. What can I do to make it fit, or... this just feels wrong anyway? I'm not certain this adapter fits into the chimney above the part I am supposed to remove as it is VERY tight and so far I can't seem to loosen it off. I guess I want to know if this is 100% the way to go before I do it, and also, if it's really necessary, as the original adapter fit well, and this one does not.

The bottom adapter is upside down. Is that Selkirk pipe?
