Dennis , you may not believe this but 2 years ago at Frankfort as I was coming in from the morning salmon fishing there was a pelican in betsie bay. Fortunately, I have witnesses to verify this! I have heard since that they occasionally will be seen on Saginaw bay as well.
Strange that we see the cranes in the spring and they've tried to nest not too far from us but seem to move out. We've seen several around Marion Springs. Wife saw 4 just south of us today. Lots of them south of M-21 and around Laingsburg.
We see a lot of indigo buntings in the spring but not later so they all must be just passing through. We do get a few bluebirds and I saw some yet while bow hunting earlier in the month.
