I bought this house recently and it has this gorgeous Harmon stove in it. The previous owner thought that it was strictly coal but I have burnt wood in it, as a test, and it seemed to perform just as well. There are ZERO markings, numbers, or tags on the stove to give me a hint of what I have here. I am hoping that some of the knowledgeable folk on here will be able to point me in the right direction. Let me know if you need more information. Thank you in advance. Picture included.

Honestly it depends when ot was made whether it is classified as coal or wood/coal. It is the same stove just at some point they could no longer sell it as a wood burner because it cant pass the epa tests. So yes it will burn wood but it is a much better coal stove than wood stove

It is a coal stove.Shaker grate handle is on the left hand side. You can burn would in it,but it will not be efficient as a wood stove or burn as clean as a epa wood stove. It would work excellent with coal.

Yes but they were originally sold as combo units and they actually are some of the better combo units but yes much better at coal than wood

Yes some manufactures did sell them as combo units. This is a Harman Mark III series coal only stove.

The mark iii was a wood coal combo. It was sold that way for many years I have read the old harman and it used to be for both. Now yes it is a coal only stove. But it is the same stove
