Looks like it's time to put the AC back in the shed for the next 10 months....

Weather seems to have turned, I'm sure we'll have many warm days ahead, but it has definitely rounded the corner.

Clouds are different, dark when I'm drinking coffee in the AM, long sleeves in the AM, fans off at night, no light in the woods after 7, stacks of wood growing in the yard, piles of cord wood in driveways, spotty orange swamp maples, acorns dropping....yep, rounding the corner...

While I love summer, I almost look forward to the winter slowdown in work and the changing of the seasons, something I dreaded prior to my stove install last year.

Summer is by far my favorite, but having my stove and two years worth of wood stacked and ready makes winter seem much more manageable.

Ultimately, I blame it all on pre - season football. ....

Yep, never put the ac's in this year. My new house has a whole house fan. Other than that real cool this year with maybe 1-2 days I wish I put them in.

I am excited for the fall especially. .

No whole house fan here (wish there was)....and never put the A/C in.....cool enough for the fire pit every Friday night....now I know why I'm a little low on wood, although what I burned was basically scraps and uglies:rolleyes:

You all can just hold off now. I ain't ready for summer to be done.

I was tempted to fire mine up. It would be the 1st burn in it ever. I wanted to burn the chemicals out, at least the windows could be open

Definitely fire it up while you can still open the windows. Follow instructions for "break in" fires and expect it to smell a bit.

If I get out of work on time this afternoon I'm just going to do it.

I was thinking about removing mine, too. I used the AC in my shop for 1-2 of days back in July and not since. Last year it really saved my bacon, allowing me to work in comfort. And I was thinking about touching up the castings on my Classic and "burning it off", too!

I have 0 complaints this year, the temperature has been more than manageable. In CT the temp has been cool enough where it wouldn't suck to bad firing up the stove to burn off

Something I've been thinking about for awhile now is this: when I was a kid (late '60s-early '70s) this is how I remember summer in NH. Days of heavy, oppressive humidity and temps in the 90s were really pretty rare. We nearly always wore sweatshirts on our way to swimming lessons at the lake (9-10AM) and by 6-7PM we gladly hauled them over our heads again. Most nights we were glad to have a wool blanket fan-folded at the foot of the bed.

It's been a great summer, IMO. However: crummy year for peppers, eggplant, and the tomatoes are wicked "late".

I'm not ready either, I'm just saying it's happening. The SO actually asked for a fire tonight. Told her we have 6 weeks to go, we will see....

She asked for a fire??? Seriously??

:p

Spent my early teen age years in Shaftsbury, Vermont. I hear ya on the blanket / sweat shirt thingy :)

My peppers, tomatoes, eggplants are for crap. Not enough heat for them, I figure. I'm holding out hope that the temps will hold, and as the leaves fall off the trees, I'll get a late crop. *insert a "ya, right Dix" here*

Putting the A/C away guarantees a few hot days to come!

It's a good thing I procrastinate. The weather last night said this coming week will have the warmest temps for august and may come close to being the warmest temps of the summer for us.
Guess I should start thinking about stacking the last Cors of wood that's sitting in the yard before it gets real hot. Or, it can wait til it cools off again. ...
