Just saw an interview on the news with this fellow who is cleaning off graves in his hometown ... in honour of his Gramps who served in WWII.

The TV news coverage added a bit more. His Grandfather's records are sealed to the general public; he served on the HMS Regina that was torpedoed. CBC did some checking through other available records and found that his Gramps was a POW :( ... something he never learned from his Gramps. The thought of what his Gramps lived through shatters him... and reaffirms his resolve to clean as many veteran graves as he can.

That's a great idea. It's something that most everyone could do. Maybe even organize a work party now and then.

...and thanks to all that are serving. Hope we can get you home soon.

My mother lost half her family in WWII in The Netherlands (unfortunate friendly bombing) within 20 seconds. But we are grateful for the US and Canadian soldiers liberating my native country and surrounding countries. The armed forces and their families have sacrificed a lot. I salute them all.

My family still wonders what happened to Grandad's family in Norway. We know only one brother survived but don't know if that was due to intial attack on Oslo or ? Something I want to try to track down...
