The Final Clean- ESP Probe

Well, this winter was long and cold and my stove performed great! I bought 250 bags (5 tons) and have 10 bags left.

I'm going to do the final clean, clean the exhaust, put a couple damp rids in and call it SUMMER!

My question is how do you access the ESP Probe? Do I need to disconnect the exhast pipe from the stove?How do you disconnect it and clean it? I know you have to be gental so any advice would be helpful.

well, I have the P61A so assume it's same setup.
loosen the two screws[don't have to take them all the way out] of the bottom Right cover...there is a screw that holds the probe in.
Note:
If u take out your ash pan and remove the blower guard, then u can see in the square inlet exactly where the probe is in relation to where it;s attached or fastened on the opposite end.

Yes, when I take off the blower guard and look down the square exhaust it's visible. How is it taken out and then cleaned? Is it by the screw?

yes....it will pull right out..
just get a rag and use some alcohol[drinkable or not lol]c and wipe it clean like anything else..
shouldn't have any rock hard deposits on it but if it does,just use something a bit stronger..
I know few people who use a real fine sandpaper on it but if it;s shinny after you clean it, it's fine..
just a final note:
I have a bottle brush which I use to clean the probe while it is still attached.
I can see with a flashlight that it is relativley clean other than white/gray ash..
It's not that fragile that it can't be brushed like that.
I'm very slow and carefull and I do this every 3 or 4 cleanings so I don't have to remove the probe.[During heating season].
End of season I do pull it.....
I have an OAK so I also plug up the air vent outside to keep moisture out during summer, then top off with damp rid......btw: check out my kewl tool I learned about here to clean exhaust pipe.

Well I did the end of the year cleaning!

1) Scraped the inside with a putty knife and vacuumed it out.
2) Cleaned the igniter area
3) took out the ESP probe and wiped it with a damp paper towel.
4) cleaned the horizontal and vertical venting.
5) cleaned/ vacuumed all the fans and vacuumed the back of the fans
6) used a Dremmel with a wire brunch to clean the auger and auger tube.
7) Cleaned out the fines box.
8) Vacuumed the hopper.
9) plugged the exhaust and the OAK and put Damp rid in the fire pot and ash bin and left a note in the hopper as a reminder.

Took me about 3 hrs but I'm satisfied and it's SPOTLESS!!
