In order for us to use that Boston Foundry Stove, we'll have to re-renovate that corner of the new renovation, (lol) to make it fire-safe. Not looking forward to ripping apart what we just had built. Might be a few years before we do that (if "I" have much to say about it; which around here, is very little).

On another note: I noted a direct link to a tour that was taken by a member of the staff here at Hearth.com, to the very location where we bought the stove. Richard (the owner of the Good Times Stove Company) does great work, and I'm tempted to go back there again, and buy one of the parlor stoves, as well.

I don't see why you have much ripping out to do at all. These puppies don't throw all that much heat from the back, just the pipe...
and it's way off the floor, mines almost 14 inches off the floor. It's really only around the fire box (not much bigger than a little box stove) and the pipe that would be of concern. You could probably perfectly safely do fire proofing on top of the existing floor and wall with spacers and fire proof materials ie cement board, etc. My cookstove is just on one of those store bought stove boards, I can always hold my hand on it indefinitely no problem.

But I guess if you want it to stick out into the room as little as possible then your gonna have to rip stuff out....
