How you gonna move that, is has to be heavy. It must be on a sled.
I filled a cooler that full of ice& salmon last year, couldn't lift it, Son-in-law picked up one end & the handle broke
I think I get it, it a camouflaged cooler full of beer :lol:

Nice size beech rounds.....that is one of my favorite woods,not 1st but right up there. Burns long and I like the tight bark, not much mess. I'm taking a couple extra days this week and make a 4 day weekend (birthday on Sat.) Got my eye on a beech if the ground is solid enough, that will be my Thursday morning target. If it is too soft I'll go after something else.

Was the beech hollow on the inside of the main trunk longarm? It's commonly found like that in northern Michigan.

That beech was as solid as a rock,blown down in a windstorm.

Those woodboxes are stationary during the burn season,less than 6 feet from the doorway to the house,they are always kept full. No running out during zero weather in a snowstorm trying to keep warm,at least 3 weeks of heat there maybe more,plus whats stored next to the hearth that I recently posted.

Seems like the real big ones sometimes are hollow but not always. Sounds like you're well prepared for the snows. Haven't seen a lot this year but that can change in a hurry in Ohio as you well know. I do the same...keep a plenty up by the door and usually about 3 days worth by the stove.

I've lost a few big beech that were hollow, and some that were solid but just snapped anyway. Beech bark disease is moving through the UP, and it apparently causes "beech snap", although my trees haven't shown much sign yet. (I think even healthy beech must be prone to snapping.) But sadly the consensus is that we stand to lose most of our beech over the next 5-10 years as the disease moves through.

Son of Beech.......Makes good fire wood but man their branches get in the way of everything. Always slapping the **** out you when your working in the woods. Their branches grow straight out to get whatever light they can.

Nice! I nabbed about a 1/2 cord of beech about 3 months ago when the utility company worked my road. C/S/S right away and will report how it likes the stove in about 4 years. Cheers!

Very high quality burn, my go-to firewood if I can't get black birch, which is better.

But-- it charcoals like crazy and doesn't burn as hot as, say, rock maple. It's higher BTU, but gives it out over a longer period of time.

Great thing about beech is that it's often very fibrous, so each split has its own kindling built in.

Thats some nice looking wood, I save the beech and black birch I have for overnight burns too.
