Warmer than that here but we are cold because we aren't burning :(

I started up again this morning with 42F on the thermometer. A good morning fire has lasted us all day, but I think I will be starting the stove up again tonight.

Frost on the windshields this morning.
It can be done now. Really.

I'm glad I started splitting the "too bigs". They are getting me through without touching what's left of the good stuff.

Called my firewood guy, and said "get here". He'll be here soon.

Going down to 30ish . I want to see my tulips, they are just about ready to roll, damn it.

32 tonight, 29 tomorrow. I've only had two nights without a fire so far this "spring".
Been splitting my splits into many smaller splits. Smaller fires, seems to work well, burning clean without heating me out of the house.

Burned up what I had allotted for this year including any dry uglies. Could break into next years wood but with decent daytime temps I'm not using much oil at all. Old man winter ain't quite dead yet though is he?

You shouldn't be using much oil now, but @ $4 a gallon, it's gotta hurt. I used 1 gallon a day in the summer for HW.

Decided today to turn the breaker off for the EHW during the day. No one is home, no need for HW.

We'll see how the PSEG bill comes around.

On contract for around $3.50 but yeah when I tally up for the year it will most likely be more oil used than last year. Not trying to be a 24/7 burner anyway so it's OK. I enjoy the work and the fire. Nice heat when I'm running and save a few bucks to boot, that's good enough for now. Sometimes does make me envious of some of these units with bigger fireboxes and longer burn times though.

When there is no other choice, one chooses. Hopefully wisely ;)

Well I chose to conserve and stick with the plan so if I'm not burning at this time next year it won't be because I'm out of wood. Thanks to a big push the 3 year plan should be up and running. For a while I thought it might be tight next year too but things are coming together.

I also managed to get a very good supply for outdoor fires so I can feed my habit year round ::-). I enjoy that at least as much.

J, my oil burner is BROKEN. Hopefully gonna fix it this summer. Broken pipes. from the frozen winter 2 years ago.

One does what one has to do.

Oh I know, and I admire what you're doing over there. Keeping it all together isn't always easy under the best circumstances and running two stoves ain't for sissies I'm sure. Let's hope the weather cuts us a break and we can all get to enjoying some spring.

Well, I just tapped into next years supply. Not happy with the condition of the uglies, so mixing in seasoned.

Tulips still haven't opened yet, damn it.

Dixie, we're getting snow as I speak (type). Gonna stop some time tomorrow morning. Just forecasted enough to make driving miserable, ya know? No flowers, no green grass, no snow free yard yet...but the bare spots in the yard have water!! (not ice, anyway)

We are easily 2 weeks behind normal. Even the "warm" days we've had ain't been so hot.

For here, this is a long spell. Probably even longer for youse guys ;)

That's pure Longislandese.

Actually it's more Brooklyn / Queens.

But most people think that's what Long Island is ;)
