Cant be. It takes at least two to three years for wood to be good to go.
What was the average temp during that time ? How much daily sun do these get? And how big are these splits?

That almost doesn't surprise me, especially if it's limbs and not stumps. Sometimes Mother Nature can help us hot-rod stuff. Both species are good candidates. Others can be much tougher.
