That almost doesn't surprise me, especially if it's limbs and not stumps. Sometimes Mother Nature can help us hot-rod stuff. Both species are good candidates. Others can be much tougher.

What was the average temp during that time ? How much daily sun do these get? And how big are these splits?

Cant be. It takes at least two to three years for wood to be good to go.

That low moisture % does seem real low for 6 months, but definitely achievable in under 2 years time for these species, imo

Average was 90+ during the day and they set in direct sun for at least half the day. Thosewere 4-5 inch splits I busted in half

It was logs but not big ones. The cherry was 8-10 inch and the ash was around 15 I'd guess
