I was just out splitting with my 8lb maul and after a few hits it was split switched up to the much lighter x27 and we were having one hit splits. Thing is awesome. On amazon they have the sharpener for like 10 bucks or something i like I keep it sharp

Sweet. I got one for x-mas, but am ashamed to say that I haven't used it yet. My back has been really bad this winter and it's getting enough work just feeding the stove and shoveling snow.
Can't wait to see how it compares to my previous generation X-25.

Same thing. I was splitting white oak last month. Maul got so-so results. Switched to the x27 and wow!

I just threw some bent and knotty pieces aside for when I rent a splitter sometime in the next couple months.

Nice! I've found you need both. Some wood splits like a dream with the Fiskars and yet I've found the old maul still works best on others. EX: This past fall I got a load of red maple and a load of sugar maple a few weeks apart. The red maple cut easily with the x27 and the sugar maple great with the maul, but not vice versa.

I've found both Sugar Maple and Sycamore to be good candidates for a heavier maul (or hydraulics!). Most other difficult to split stuff I've found a Fiskars does well.

I used my x27 for the first time splitting oak today. It's 100 times better than my lundell 4.5 lbs splitting axe. Ithe lundell would get stuck part way through where the fiskars just blast through. Even though I'm not tall I like the length of the x27.

I split 3 cord of ash last week with my X27. A fair amount of it was straight trunk, 24+ inches across, but definitely hit some wicked forks/limbs/boughs up in the top. I also realized that I've been relaxing too much around the holidays: I hurt for days afterwards! But hey, gotta work off those Christmas cookies somehow.

I envy you guys. I just can't do it anymore. I split about a half cord by hand several months ago and i was done for days. Had to buy a splitter. Funny thing is I'm pretty young (39) but my body just doesn't want to agree with that kind of work.

I routinely drive my x27 right through full rounds and into my chopping block. I don't know what it is about the handle but I can feel some sort of mechanical advantage right as ax head goes vertical in the swing. I find myself not even taking full swings anymore unless I've got a knotty piece of wood.

My lady watched me bust up a 18" red oak round into splits in about 10 seconds with the x27 and a tire.... she said "wow, so that's how you have so much wood split."

I have back trouble but splitting wood seams to help me. I split in a big tire and don't bend down much.
My wife comes out to watch sometimes and I tell her to watch the blade just before it hits the wood and she will see the wood split. I tell her the wood is scared of the X27.

Thanks for the tire trick! I have an old truck tire that sits right next to where I split wood, I never thought of throwing it on my splitting stump! I might have to try that out this evening....

If you put 3 or 4 screws through the bottom side of the tire into the wood (stump) it won't move around on you. Good luck.
