Any thoughts or opinions on adding some firebrick pieces to fill in these gaps between the reburn manifold and the firebrick retainer?

Wanted to add some as these are significant heat spots on the body of the stove and I wanted to protect the metal there. Also figured it would help retain heat in the firebox and increase efficiency.

The engineers chose not to put firebrick in that area for a reason. Trust them

Too much firebrick will stop the heat from transferring to the air in your house. That might not be a bad thing in shoulder season, when you don’t want much heat and struggle to get clean burns with small fires.
