Tree/Shrub ID???

Sorry no leaves this time of year but wondering you guys know what this is? This is a big one! Most others in my woods are MUCH smaller. Some produce red berries in the winter. Any ideas? Going to cut this down not sure if its worth burning or not?

That is Amur Honeysuckle - Lonicera mackii. It is not native and is very invasive, taking over woods throughout Pennsylvania. It gets red berries is the summer but they often don't get eaten and last thru summer and sometimes thru fall into winter. Pain in the butt to get rid of. If you cut it, it will resprout so you'll have to cut several times or cut then spray the stump or sprouts.

I have some in my stacks. It burns but isn't a very dense wood.

Thanks Wood Duck! Yes it is very invasive! Have them all throughout my woods. I cut a good sized one down in the summer and it resprouted many times over again. Firepit pile it will go.....

I had one in my yard that I removed. Had to cut all the limbs about 3 feet from the base, then wrap a chain around the base and pull it out roots and all.
That was about 3 years ago and it hasn't been back. There is another one in the woods that I need to tackle next. I hate those things. Ugly as sin in my opinion.
As for burning....I burned some of the bigger pieces in an outdoor fire pit, but thats all it was worth...didn't make the indoor team.

I am in the process of ridding my property of that crap. You can cut it out all you want but it will come back. I am spraying all of it with Roundup.

Wood duck is right.....definitely honeysuckle......and if its free, definitely worth burning...

i have a ton of it on my property too. I cleared out a bunch for a garden plot and burned the bigger pieces. It's worth a toss into the stack.
