I have a two sided fireplace, see through - opening opposite each other about 40 inches accross openings. Since it is vertually useless as a fireplace, I'd like to get a stove in there. This seems like the place to ask some experienced folks so here it is. Insert or Stand alone stove. The house is an old contempoary with high vaulted ceilings, living area in house is about 3400 sq ft.

Thank you!

If you do an insert you will probably have to block off one side, as there are very few double sided wood inserts.

Is this a ZC metal box or a masonry fireplace?
