We've been running our new Hampton i300 for about a week now. We were initially concerned that we wouldn't get much heat into the upstairs bedroom without leaving the door open. That did not prove to be the case. When we first bought the house (a bit over 4 years ago), we gutted the master bedroom and added insulation to the outside walls and new sheet rock. We decided not to cover the brick chimney that ran through one corner of the room because we like the detail provided by the column of exposed brick. That exposed brick chimney is now serving very nicely as a radiant heater and keeping the bedroom warm and cozy.

Our chimney got warm, like 110 degrees, when we had a good blaze going in the old Majestic. This was in a lined chimney as well. If you can hold your hand on the chimney brick and it is comfortable, then enjoy the extra warmth.
My current setup is very much less-than-ideal (12x12" masonry clay liner with a smoke dragon (8" fluepipe) hooked up) but I will say one thing, the masonry stays warm for a while, at least the brick hearth. The center of the hearth where the chimney lies behind stays warmer than the rest too. I only wish this suboptimal chimney was in the middle of the house, not protruding out the side.

I think there are some threads on here for "small stoves." After your better half reads this, you may want one (a small stove that is) for the doghouse.
