Def. NOT a pneumatic cylinder, guys. A pneumatic cylinder will stop when it sees load, build pressure, and then let fly at high velocity when load is overcome. The only way it's pneumatic is if it's a pneumatic motor driving a screw, and I doubt it's that. No way that's a pneumatic cylinder.

I think that's what it does. Look at the lines jump. What else could it be?

I think what you're seeing is a small splitter with a VERY sharp wedge powered by a separate electric or gas powered system. The "jumping" lines are the hyd lines ... Think Hurst rescue tool....

Ah interesting, I think you called it. Finally found the setup video again looks like it uses water as the fluid. Has a engine and pump that's about the size of a small generator. Other than that the components are all light weight and the system was expandable so you could switch between splitting long or short logs, has a different wedges including a 4 way and seems powerful. Wonder what they go for?

From what I can get from the website it can be purchased with a gas or an electric power head. The website has a link to a bunch of youtube videos w/ different configurations and products. There's even a hand held version similar to the jaws of life ErikR posted.

The big blue one looks totally cool -- made me think of an apple corer on steroids!
