Upland 107 questions ?

Ok, I just purchased a Upland 107, made in Medford ,NJ, date looks like 02/87, serial number 107-33-5591.

The stove is in good shape but I do need some parts. Is the owners manual available anywhere online ? Does it contain part numbers ? I need all door gaskets and maybe both door handles. This stove has a damper handle on the left side with one large baffle plate in the stove, Most diagrams I have seen show 2 baffles with no hand operated damper. Anything else I should look to replace ? Where can parts be purcahsed for this stove ?


All info on this stove will be appreciated.

Sure I'll post a pic, before and after a paint job, once I figure out how to get the pix size down on my camera so I can post it.

I have checked out the info and my 107 has a few different things these don't.

Mine has a oval flue coming off the stove, other seem round

Mine has one solid baffle, sits tight to the left of stove with a couple inches open on the right.

Mine seems to have a hand operated damper, handle on left.

Is this one of the "newer" upgrade stoves made in medford ?

I brought in a piece of the original gasket to the local stove store. I went with the widest gasket, stretched it slightly and it fit fine.
I had a bunch of links for parts for upland but I got a new computer & lost the links.

A coupe of questions on burning the upland 107

To achive a decent longer burn what size logs should I attempt to use ? I realize the longest is better but what about girth, split ? unsplit ?

Any suggestions on how much to leave the air intake wheel open to achive a long burn ?

Ouch - 20 yrs old huh?

What is the firebox like? Does it have a baffle in the top or is it open to the flu? Generally speaking, larger [properly seasoned] logs provide a longer burn.

I have a 107 that has been in the house since the early 80's. It has been a great stove and heats well. I am curious as the the air tightness of the damper controlled by the handle to the left of the stove. I can open the end door and load the stove with out opening the damper and get no smoke back in the room. I wonder if the damper plate is warped or damaged, and if so, can it be replaced. I recently re-polished the unit and it looks great!! It still provides great heat but I would like to know if it is working at maximum efficiency. Any thoughts??

At first glance it would appear to me that you have one of the very few "new" 107's that we were starting to convert to accept a catalytic converter!

A rare bird, for certain!

The baffle was cemented and gasketed inside the stove and there was a bypass which flipped......the cat converter - probably a rectangular unit - fit into another place in the baffle which should be evident.

The parts list and other stuff at the wiki link will not be totally relevant......although the stove should work with or without the cat converter.

The 107 works best with 18-20" logs.
