Question:

I'm considering the purchase of a Vigilant Coal Stove to place in a sunroom (4 season). I have access to peat coal as a fuel and am wondering whether it is an acceptable alternative to hard coal in your stoves.

Answer:

-- Not being familiar with the exact type of coal- I hate to give a definitive answer. The vigilant is set up to burn anthracite or bituminous of certain grades.
Vermont Castings is at http://www.vermontcastings.com - maybe they can shed some light.
