Question:

Found your website-we're in Manitoba,Canada-and have purchased a zero-clearance fireplace for our cottage. Unfortunately, we do not know the brand as it was once converted to gas. The chimney we purchased is from The Habitat store here and is the insulated type A- can we use this?

Answer:

No way of knowing this from here. Many pre-fab fireplaces do not use generic class A metal chimney. This is because said units are designed with a specific metal chimney produced by the same maker.

This is the case with MOST pre-fab fireplaces. The only way of confirming this is to have the make and model number and check with the specific manufacturer.
