Using existing wood stove for new gas fireplace??

Hi all,

I currently have Super27 step top with a straight vertical run of double wall chimney pipe through my A frame cabin. I am thinking of going to gas. I have a gas line already in the vicinity and would like a new free standing gas fireplace. Can I use the existing chimney and its pipe???? Gas doesn't burn as hot as the Super 27 does so I should be ok??? or is it there a special gas pipe required?

You will have to get the manual for the unit you want to install.
It will show the acceptable venting configurations.
Some units, like Regency models, allow for a 4" exhaust to be run inside
existing Class A or terra cotta flues.
Most do NOT.
