VC 1910 Upper Fireback Assy Install

Hi,
On a VC 1910, I removed the Upper Fireback Assy. without removing the top. But putting a new assy in with the top on is not going well. Any suggestions short of removing the top??

I am regasketing a 1910 now and was able to get the upper fireback in place with a friend threading the bolts while I held it in place. Did you figure yours out? How are you liking the 1910?
