Hello,
I am restoring a late-80's VC Dauntless 1240 wood stove that had been used with a VC factory gas log insert for many years. I want to go back to wood-burning. When the gas log was installed, the "air manifold" (part #24) was removed per the VC instructions. That part is gone and replacements are not available. My question is what was the purpose of that manifold, and do I need it if I am burning wood? It seems that the original was sheet metal, and I might be able to fabricate a new one.
Thanks,
Bob
