Really leaning towards the VC Merrimack. One of the main complaints I've read is the fan noise.
My plan is to duct a fan from the basement, through the hearth, where the Merrimack blower sits, and hook it up to the air intake openings (removing the existing blower). Then I can have a blower in the basement, out of sight, quite. Probably just a regular 8" or 6" duct in-line blower (TBD).
So..
Does anybody have pictures of what that air intake opening looks like w/ the blower removed?
