Vented flashing versus non-vented

New install for blaze king 40. What is the benefit if any of having a vented flashing with 8 inch pipe? I have been waiting couple weeks to get this pice in and it came today but it is for a 6”. Customer service rep said they can ship me the correct one or I can cut the vented portion off and use that.

I wouldn’t cut it. That flashing is certainly tested and listed as manufactured. If you cut it and the house burns down for any reason, that modified flashing could be a problem.

Agree with Highbeam about modifying anything, plus your storm collar will be closer to the roof.
