I am considering buying a used VC Resolute stove this week. After talking to a local dealer about some of the issues VC has had over the past ten years I got concerned. I do not know how old the used stove is but it looks like it is in great shape and can get it for $750. Is it worth buying used or would it be a better idea to just buy something like a new jotul. Thanks

What kind of space are you trying to heat? This is a smaller VC stove and it might not be big enough depending on the area you want to heat.

If it needs any parts they tend to be expensive, but I think these stoves didn't have a lot of interior workings to begin with compared to the catalytic models.
Unless the stove is in immaculate condition, the asking price is too high, but that is just my opinion. I'd consider that a down payment on a new Jotul.

I tend to agree. Not that Resolutes atren't great stoves, but parts are becoming increasingly difficult or impossible to get for this model. Even the ones you CAN get are becoming really pricey. Not only that, but for $750.00, you should be getting a rebuilt stove in like new condition, not just used.

I'd feel better about a new one in this case.
