Wondering if anyone has any suggestions for an installer that is willing to install a Woodstock Progress Hybrid stove in western Washington, specifically Maple Valley area? Need to be able to get it up stairs into the house, and at 700 lbs listed weight that's a bear. Haven't bought it yet, purchase is dependent on finding a resource to get 'er in and installed...

Do you need the whole chimney and hearth installed or is this just a matter of getting help moving the stove to the hearth? Lots of people can move heavy things but installing a whole heating system is much more involved.

Agreed. There is a lot more to a safe wood stove installation. Getting it up the stairs (how many) can be made much easier with the right equipment and with the removal of some heavy parts from the stove first.

There are several chimney sweeps and fireplace installers in the Maple Valley area. Go for someone that is certified and insured. Get references from recent jobs and call those people.

Here are some that show up with good Yelp reviews:

700# so is that the PH? At 2.8 cubic feet it is super heavy and good looking.

Thanks for all the replies.

-Hearth & chimney are there, brick chimney has 2.5 yr old stainless liner inside recently cleaned. Old stove has been removed. Would need someone to bring the monster in, place on hearth and hook up to chimney - will need some different sections of pipe as that was on a stove 8" to chimney pipe 6" reducer.

-I did call a couple including Ed's, who won't come out this far so thought I'd see if anyone had any suggestions. Will contact some more, thanks.

-Yeah, the PH says it weighs 700 lbs. The old Dutchwest XL we took out (in pieces) had a listed weight of 630, all cast iron.

Here is what the placement looks like (again, old stove has been removed)

Can the stove be disassembled?

I read through a post on this forum where someone did a partial disassembly to get it in their house. Not sure I'd be comfortable going quite as far as they did, tho... and even so, would still need someone else to bring it in due to age/physical issues... :(

How tall is the new 6" liner? Is it insulated?

I don't believe the liner is insulated. Not sure how tall it is, I'll have to figure that out today. The exterior portion of the chimney was lengthened a couple of feet when the liner was installed. The old Dutchwest monster seemed to work well off it.

Stoves have different draft requirements. Some are easy breathers and will work well on a short chimney. Others require stronger draft. Knowing this when selecting the stove can make the difference between satisfaction and disappointment in marginal cases. Determine the exact height of the liner, then call Woodstock and ask if this will work well with their Progress Hybrid.

If not, an easy breathing alternative would be the PE Alderlea T6 but the shallow hearth would need extending.

Closing this thread. It is no longer about installers. The stove selection question continues here:
