First time posting. I found this site today and read tons of threads. Great site!

See the "wall patch" installation for a clay thimble shown in example 'A' here: https://www.hearth.com/econtent/index.php/forums/viewthread/41608/P22/#461809

& also here:
https://www.hearth.com/econtent/index.php/articles/passing_a_chimney

My questions:
Using a 6" clay thimble, What goes in between the 32" square layer of brick that sits flush with the stove side of the wall and the outside wall before it goes into the flu of the chimney?

Is the wall patch supossed to be 32" square all the way to the chimney?

The picture only shows one layer of brick as if your house wall is only one layer of brick thick.

I currently have a 6" clay thimble sticking 2" into the house with about 4" of what appears to be cement around the sleeve.
The clay liner goes through the wall and into a clay lined masonry chimney.

I want to use the "wall patch" method. Do I have to only install one layer of brick the needed 32" square on the inside and outside wall? OR does it have to be a solid 32" square all the way to the chimney?

Thanks for the help.

I would contact the building inspector for what is needed in your area. On my old house I used an insul-flue to go from my chimney to my house.
