When brother bart recently posted the results of his experiments regarding stove top temps and followed it up by saying "taking those temps with the blower running really lowers (skews) the reading". This encouraged me to try a little experiment of my own.
Usually my temp actuated blower kicks on anywhere from a stove top reading of between 350 and 450F. And after that I couldn`t get the temp up any higher. Now when I load from a cold stove/insert--I turn the blower off and allow the temp to rise to 650F and then turn on the blower. Quite a difference in heat output!!
Just saying that it is a good idea to read and heed the advice from the experts on this forum and then "feel free to go ahead and try some experiments of your own". The results can be quite pleasing
