We are going to buy Drolet escape 1800i insert to put in existing open fireplace. The bottom of fireplace is almost flush with living room floor. We want to raise the new inset 5" and will still have room to connect and meet mantle clearance etc. We'd prefer easy, cheap and not permanent. Installer suggested firebricks. Would regular brick (cheaper) or anything else be safe?

Any non-combustible material will be fine. Brick block firebrick metal etc

cinder half-blocks will do. 4x8x16".
